About Aux Arts du Feu
Tableware and much more since 1901
Our 120-year company history
1901
Leonhard Buchecker founded a retail business in Lucerne, mainly selling glasses to restaurants and hotels, which he decorated himself as a copper wheel engraver.
The range was soon expanded to include porcelain and metalware.
1922
Wilhelm L. Buchecker, the eldest son, entered the business.
The decoration workshops were expanded to include glass grinding, glass and porcelain painting and stamp printing processes.
Later, the much more precise steel printing process was introduced.
1944
Opening of the AUX ARTS DU FEU retail store on Kapellplatz in Lucerne.
1946
Opening of the AUX ARTS DU FEU retail store on Bahnhofstrasse 31/Bärengasse in Zurich.
1979
Opening of the AUX ARTS DU FEU retail store at Quai Général Guisan in Geneva, later on Cours de Rive 6.
1994
The retail store in Lucerne was relocated to Schweizerhofquai 2.
2011–2012
A modern warehouse and distribution centre was put into operation in Root near Lucerne
2013
Building renovation of the property at Bahnhofstrasse 31/Bärengasse in Zurich.
At the same time, the AUX ARTS DU FEU store was completely redesigned.
The store is bright, spacious and smart thanks to its very minimalist interior.
When developing the concept, it was important to the business owners that the high-quality manufactured products could be displayed to their advantage.
Since mid-May 2016, AUX ARTS DU FEU has been offering gems and rare pieces from the past in a new vintage corner.
These are authentic original pieces and classics from the company’s old stocks – antiques that are completely new, intact and have never been used.
Business activities and philosophy
The retail stores in Lucerne and Zurich offer high-quality tableware and homeware, with appropriate individual and professional advice.
Top products made from glass, crystal, porcelain and silver and textile home accessories are sourced, without exception, from renowned European manufacturers.
A purely family-run company, AUX ARTS DU FEU is now in the hands of its fourth generation – the owners are Petra Mach-Buchecker and Wendela Buchecker.
Because glass, porcelain and silver can only be created through the art of handling fire, the French term is both the company name and a fitting description of the company’s successful philosophy – the consistent focus on high-quality branded products and European manufacturing.
