Our 120-year history in tableware
1901
Leonhard Buchecker founded a trading business in Lucerne, selling primarily to restaurants and hotels. He personally decorated the glasses he sold as a copper wheel engraver. The range soon expanded to include porcelain and metalware.
1922
Wilhelm L. Buchecker, the eldest son, joined the business. The decoration workshops were extended to include glass cutting, glass and porcelain painting, and pad printing. Later, the more precise steel printing technique was introduced.
1944
Opening of the retail store AUX ARTS DU FEU at Kapellplatz in Lucerne.
1946
Opening of the AUX ARTS DU FEU store in Zurich at Bahnhofstrasse 31 / Bärengasse.
1979
Opening of the AUX ARTS DU FEU store at Quai Général Guisan in Geneva, later relocated to Cours de Rive 6.
1994
The Lucerne store moved to Schweizerhofquai 2.
2011/12
A modern warehouse and distribution centre was opened in Root, near Lucerne.
2013
Renovation of the Zurich property at Bahnhofstrasse 31 / Bärengasse. At the same time, the store was completely redesigned. Bright, spacious, and elegantly simple, the interior showcases the high-quality manufactory products to their fullest effect, reflecting the vision of the owners.
2016
Since mid-May, the new Vintage Corner at AUX ARTS DU FEU has featured treasures and rarities from times past. These are authentic original pieces and classics from the company’s historic stock — essentially mint-condition antiques, untouched and never used.
2022
Closure of the Zurich branch after 77 years.

At our retail store in Lucerne, we offer high-quality products for tableware and home décor, complemented by personalised and expert advice. The finest creations in glass, crystal, porcelain, silver, and textile home accessories come exclusively from renowned European manufactories. As a still entirely family-owned business, AUX ARTS DU FEU is now run by the fourth generation, owners Petra Mach-Buchecker and Wendela Buchecker.
Because glass, porcelain, and silver can only be created through the skilled use of fire, the French term Aux Arts du Feu serves not only as the company name but also as a fitting description of the firm’s philosophy: a steadfast commitment to high-quality branded products and the craftsmanship of European manufacturers.
